About Kodion
We're building the most effective way to learn programming
Kodion is an interactive, AI-assisted platform for learning to code, built on a simple observation: most people don't fail to learn programming because it's too hard. They fail because they learn in the wrong order, get stuck with no one to ask, and forget what they learned last week.
Our mission
Learning to program has never had more free material available, and never been more confusing to start. Tutorials assume knowledge you don't have yet, video courses go unwatched after week two, and when you finally hit an error you can't decipher, there's no one to ask. That gap between "endless content" and "actual learning" is the problem Kodion exists to close.
Our mission is to make real programming skill, the kind you can build things with, achievable for anyone willing to practice a little every day. We do that by combining a carefully sequenced curriculum, hands-on exercises in every lesson, an AI tutor that helps you through the exact step you're stuck on, and spaced-repetition reviews that make what you learn stick.
We keep a meaningful part of the platform free: you can preview lessons without an account, take our Python course for free, and start every other course on a free plan. The Pro subscription funds the platform and unlocks the full catalog and more AI tutor access.
How we teach
Four principles shape every course we ship.
Learning by doing, not watching
Video courses feel productive but rarely stick. Every Kodion lesson is interactive: you read a short, focused explanation, then immediately write code, answer questions, and fix mistakes. You spend most of your time typing, not passively watching.
Spaced repetition for code
Skills fade fast without review. Kodion tracks every concept you learn and schedules short daily reviews right before you'd otherwise forget, the same evidence-based technique behind tools like Anki, applied to programming.
Help exactly when you're stuck
The built-in AI tutor sees the lesson step you're on and gives targeted hints and explanations, without handing you the answer. It's like having a patient teaching assistant available at any hour.
Momentum over cramming
Streaks, XP, daily goals, and achievements aren't gimmicks. They're there to make a 20-minute daily habit easier to keep than a once-a-month cramming session. Consistency is what actually gets people to job-ready.
How our content is made
Every course, lesson, and blog article on Kodion is published under the Kodion Team byline and goes through the same editorial process.
Written by practitioners
Course material and blog guides are written and maintained by people who build software with these tools, then edited for clarity for complete beginners. Nothing on Kodion is bulk-generated: every lesson, article, and course description starts from a written outline of what a learner actually needs at that step, not a topic list run through automation.
Structured as a curriculum
Each course is a deliberate sequence: every lesson builds only on concepts already introduced, so you're never hit with unexplained jargon or forward references. Course tracks are planned as a whole before the first lesson is written, with an explicit map of prerequisites and what each module unlocks next.
Reviewed before publishing
Before a lesson, quiz, or article ships, it goes through a dedicated technical review pass: code samples are run to confirm they actually work, factual claims are checked against current documentation, and course descriptions are checked against the real curriculum so nothing promises a project or outcome the course doesn't deliver.
Tested against real learners
Exercises and quizzes are validated so correct solutions pass and common misconceptions surface early. When learners get stuck at the same spot repeatedly, or ask the AI tutor the same question over and over, that's a signal the lesson itself needs rewriting, and we act on it.
Continuously updated
Languages, frameworks, and AI tools change fast. We revise courses and articles as the ecosystem moves, retiring advice that no longer applies and adding coverage for what replaced it, so what you learn reflects how these tools are used today, not three years ago.
Corrections, taken seriously
If you spot an error, an outdated claim, or a broken example anywhere on Kodion, we want to know. Reports that come in through the contact page or support email get triaged and fixed, not filed away.
